Day four at Dunedin

Four days into a test match of ups and downs, and here’s the state of play so far.

Good news: given England’s travails and lack of preparation, the whole of the first day was lost to rain.

Bad news: the second day wasn’t.

Good news: Mike Atherton has made the trip down under to be part of the Sky Sports commentary team.

Bad news: so has Bob Willis.

Good news: Nick Compton’s century has massively improved our position in this match.

Bad news: and guaranteed his place for the Ashes.

Good news: England only have to bat for another day to save the test match.

Bad news: England have to bat for another day to save the test match.

Good news: if we come away with a draw, no one will think of this match again and remember our robust fight back.

Bad news: but if we lose, we’ll never hear the end of it.
