At least it was competitive this time. The feeling remains, however, that England simply aren’t good enough to win a full 50 over match in Sri Lanka. We’ve got a chance in twenty or thirty five over games – shorter contests level the playing field somewhat – but this particular England side lack the necessary class to beat international quality teams in their own backyard.
